Overview
This is an example of the object work I did at Matterfield. This crate was scanned with cross-polarized photogrammetry using a Sony a7riv camera. After I scanned the crate I also processed it to a retopologized quad mesh with a pbr texture set.
The base color and normal maps were generated from the photogrammetry scan, and the metallic and roughness maps were created using Substance Painter.
Scanning Objects
This crate ended up being a great object to test scanning methods and practices. Despite its simple shape it had multiple qualities that made it great for testing ideas. It has text to test the quality of texture creation, metal to test metallic capture, and sharp interior angles that test what a camera can reach.
