Overview
I recently acquired the gear necessary to do cross-polarized scans for personal projects. I decided to start by scanning a few objects to create a still life composition.
All three objects were scanned with a cross-polarized rig, and were shot with a color checker for color accurate textures and markers for proper scale. The other objects in the environment are from megascans.
I chose these three items for this project since each offered a different material type to scan and process. Each model was cleaned up in Zbrush before being retopologized to a quad-based model. Once the quad model was complete with UVs, I baked the base color and normal maps before moving to Substance Painter and Designer to process and create the other maps. I used Blender to set up the correct pivots for the objects before importing them into the engine.
